Find A Few Minutes To Floss

Addison family dentistry

One of the reasons people say they don’t floss their teeth every day is that it’s hard to find the time. If you’ve found this to be true, the team at The Addison Dentist reminds you how important flossing is to your dental health, and offers up some thoughts about the importance of flossing.

Right before bedtime is the most common time people floss. It’s the best time, too, because it’s a good idea to sleep with a clean mouth.

Should you floss before you brush your teeth, or afterward? This may be one of those six of one, half a dozen of the other questions. On one hand, we think flossing the gunk from between your teeth before you brush is a good idea. That way, the fluoride in the toothpaste can bathe your teeth in their entirety.

When all is said and done, though, it really doesn’t make much difference. The important thing is that you floss every day, and that you do a good job of it. Remember, it’s the best way to get plaque and food debris from between your teeth – and plaque is what causes cavities.

There are lots of different kinds of floss to choose from. At The Addison Dentist we think it’s a good idea to shop around, and find the kind of floss you like best. Then make sure to use it! Our services include general and restorative dentistry. Schedule your next checkup with us today!
