Sedation Dentistry

The Addison Dentist offers dental sedation techniques such as laughing gas and oral conscious sedation to help anxious patients.

Anxiety-Free Dentistry

We understand that some of our patients suffer from dental anxiety. If visiting the dentist makes you nervous, you are not alone, and we provide a way for you to still get your work done.

Sedation dentistry, including IV sedation, is a safe way to manage anxiety and increase comfort, so you can relax during any dental procedure.

With dental sedation, you can relax during your visit even if you experience one or more of the following:

  • High fear of dental care
  • Procedures requiring longer appointments
  • More complicated dental procedures
  • Uncomfortable dental experiences in the past
  • Fear of needles and shots
  • Trouble getting numb
  • Sensitive teeth

At The Addison Dentist, sedation dentistry, our doctor offers two types of dental sedation:

  1. Laughing Gas
  2. Oral Conscious Sedation

Laughing Gas

Laughing gas is the most popular form of dental sedation, and it can be used during almost any procedure. Laughing gas is easy to administer and dissipates from your body quickly, so you can drive away from your appointment with no assistance. Once the gas is inhaled, your body will relax while you stay totally conscious.

Sedation dentistry helps Addison and Farmers Branch patients with a fear of the dentist.

Oral Conscious Sedation

This type of dental sedation is administered by pill and puts you in a state of deep relaxation while you remain conscious.

The doctor will provide you with a prescription for an oral medication that is easy to swallow, safe, and low-cost. The patient will be instructed to consume the medication before you arrive at the office for your scheduled dental procedure.

When the oral conscious sedation medication takes effect, you will be able to speak and respond to requests while feeling very relaxed.

Many patients request oral conscious sedation for lengthier procedures, such as implant dentistry. Oral conscious sedation patients need to make arrangements for a friend or family member to drive them to and from their appointment.
